Luka Doncic would much rather win an NBA championship ring than MVP.

Although being named NBA MVP is one of Luka Doncic’s goals, the Dallas Mavericks superstar doesn’t compare it to winning the league title.

“Well, that’s the goal of every player who comes to the NBA,” Doncic said in an interview with Marca from Paris, France. The Slovenian player was the special guest at the Quai 54 streetball event. I can win the MVP, that would be amazing.

Asked about the pace at which he is setting new records, Doncic again mentioned that it was something that didn’t keep him too busy compared to winning. “The subject of records is not something that obsesses me or attracts me. What I seek is to win.

Doncic also commented on how long-serving Real Madrid head coach Pablo Laso was recently fired by the club for health reasons. Laso was Doncic’s coach at Real Madrid from 2015 to 2018 when the player left for the NBA, playing a key role in the development and growth of the Slovenian star.

“I can’t understand what happened,” said Doncic. “Pablo is an excellent coach and an excellent person. I think it shouldn’t have been like this”

“Yes, of course,” Doncic replied when asked if he considered his dismissal to be unfair. “There are a lot of people who think like that because of everything Pablo gave for Madrid after 11 seasons. I think he is the best coach Real Madrid have ever had.”
