Newcastle have taken information on Alvaro Morata, with Calciomercato. He reports that the Magpies have joined Arsenal in the race to sign the striker in the summer.
Morata’s future remains uncertain. He has just completed a two-year loan with Juventus. And the Old Lady has the option to make his move permanent for £30million.
Juve want to keep Morata. However, they don’t want to spend so much on the 29-year-old. Instead, they would rather pay around £17million for the former Chelsea star.
And with that, the door is open for a host of sides. In fact, reports late last month even claimed that Arsenal were close to sealing a £25m move for Morata.
It seems that these reports were premature. But Calciomercato. He reports that the Gunners want the Spain international, as do Barcelona.
And the report adds that Newcastle have taken intel on Morata. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, are looking for around £25m for the striker.
Newcastle took information on Morata
Newcastle are not planning to spend large sums of money this summer. The Telegraph has suggested Eddie Howe has less than £90m to invest in the transfer market.
It will therefore be difficult to sign some of their key targets. Morata would be affordable when it comes to transfer fees though.
He’s someone with a decent, if unspectacular, record at every club he’s played for. And he’s played for some of the best in the world.
He won league titles in Spain and Italy. And he won the Champions League twice. Morata has been called an ‘incredible’ striker by Luis Enrique. And he could prove to be a smart signing for Newcastle.
But that would potentially prove to be a gamble with the likes of Juve and Arsenal seemingly locked in on his £25m price tag.
