Salcete Mamlatdar, accompanied by the police, carried out an inventory on Friday in the offices of the Indian Popular Front in Chandrawado-Fatorda and Sirvodem in Margao.
Salcete Mamatdar Laxmikhant Desai went down to the office of the banned PFI in Chandrawado and made an inventory of the books, registers and documents kept there. The police maintained strict surveillance around the office even as the Mamlatdar and its officials took inventory inside.
The team then headed to Sirvodem-Margao to conduct a similar exercise at the PFI office around noon. Informed sources said the team had taken inventory of the documents found in the office.
The two offices of the banned organization were briefed by South Goa District Collector Jyoti Kumari after District Police Chief SP Abhishek Dhania submitted a report to the District Magistrate on the location of the two PFI offices in the city.
A senior official, however, was quick to add that while the taluka Mamlatdar and his team carried out the inventory on Friday, the offices have not yet been sealed by the authorities, apparently awaiting further instructions and directives from superiors.
Earlier this week, the central government banned the PFI nationwide along with its affiliated organizations, following which the Goa Police detained and arrested 29 PFI members in South Goa. They were all later released after signing personal bonds and providing two sureties.
