Tesla China rolls out reduced rates for in-stock vehicles

Tesla China looks decidedly serious about hitting new sales records this fourth quarter. In what appears to be the company’s latest effort to boost sales this fourth quarter, Tesla China has rolled out additional discounts for consumers buying in-stock vehicles. The new offer comes just weeks after Tesla lowered prices for China-made Model 3s and Ys.

According to a post on the electric vehicle maker’s official Weibo page, consumers who buy a Model 3 sedan or Model Y crossover in stock this fourth quarter — and whose auto insurance comes from one of Tesla China – could benefit from discounts of up to 8,000 RMB. (about $1,100).

Since Tesla, like other electric vehicle makers in China, such as NIO and Xpeng, is adopting a sell-to-order model, the new promotion’s in-stock vehicles could come from canceled orders. A poster shared on Weibo about the promotion further noted that discounted inventory vehicles may include show cars, used vehicles or test drive units.

It should be noted, however, that customers in China who wish to take advantage of the promotion are advised to take delivery of the vehicles quickly. According to the EV maker, the RMB 8,000 discount applies to in-stock vehicles that would be delivered between November 8 and November 30. The discount drops to 4,000 RMB (about $550) for in-stock vehicles that would be delivered between December 1 and December 31.

During the third quarter, Tesla delivered 343,830 vehicles worldwide, according to information released by the company last month. Of that number, Tesla delivered 120,576 cars to China, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). A Form 10-Q filed last month also revealed that Tesla’s revenue from China in the third quarter of 2022 was $5.13 billion, or about 24% of the company’s overall revenue for the quarter.

Tesla China seems determined to hit record highs in fourth quarter. Along with the recently announced rebate for in-stock vehicles, Tesla China has also slashed prices for the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y crossover. The company has also resumed its referral program, which encourages owners to promote the company to their customers. respective circles for several notable advantages.
